- General duties may include, but are not limited to
- Auditing drivers' paperwork ensuring all is fully and correctly completed in line with company procedures.
- Completing daily cross checks and reconciliation of trip pack paperwork (logbook vs Fatigue sheet, Pallet documentation etc)
- Reviewing log sheets and validating any down time to remove time wastage.
- Coaching and holding driver's accountable drivers on their paperwork compliance and standard
- Up managing non-conformance to management
- Assist in coordinating and managing the transportation and distribution of goods and materials.
- Support the planning and execution of logistics activities, including inventory management, Freight checking, PUD bookings & processing.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as Metro and Line Haul transport departments, Freight dock supervisors and team leaders, data entry team and customer service department, to ensure smooth logistics operations and timely delivery of goods.
- Assist in analysing and optimising logistics processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to logistics activities, such as pallet dockets, Con notes, Manifests, invoices, and customs documentation.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements, implementing new technologies or processes to improve logistics operations.
- Assist in resolving any issues or delays in the transportation or delivery of goods, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to find solutions.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of operational procedures and best practices to optimise logistics efficiency.
- Provide support in analysing logistics data and generating reports to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
- SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- ESSENTIAL - Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of logistics principles, processes, and best practices.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software for inventory management and data analysis.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritises tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to address logistics challenges and find solutions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling and documenting logistics activities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and requirements.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in the field of logistics and supply chain management.
- Demonstrated safety and compliance focus
- Previous experience in a transport or logistics role
