    The ABCB ensures safe and sustainable building and plumbing systems through regulatory and non-regulatory measures. We'll show you how building regulations are developed, in collaboration with Australian governments and industry.

    The ABCB is a joint initiative of the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments. We're a standards writing body that develops the NCC and administer the WaterMark and CodeMark Product Certification Schemes.

  • The opportunity
  • In this role you'll be working in a small team. Bring your enthusiasm and interest in communications and marketing to support the development of high-quality content and implementation of communications activities.

    You will help shape social media and other communications and marketing material. Analyse content performance to support increased reach and engagement with audiences.

    We're looking for someone who has :

  • strong communication and customer service skills
  • experience and interest in creating social media content
  • knowledge of communications and marketing trends and developments
  • experience using Adobe InDesign or would be interested in undertaking training
  • an understanding of or willingness to develop an understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) and the building and plumbing industries
  • a high level of professionalism and sound judgement
  • the ability to work both independently and cohesively within a small team.

  • What you will do
  • As the Communications and Social Media Coordinator at the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB), you will work on a range of communications and marketing tasks, with a focus on social media.

    In this role you will :

  • develop high quality social media and other communications and marketing content, including written communications and visual assets
  • assist with development of the communications calendar
  • monitor, analyse and report on social media content, activity and performance
  • upload new content to the ABCB website (Drupal) and edit existing content as required
  • advise internal clients about effective communications and support business areas with communications
  • help with implementation of communication and marketing campaigns
  • assist with communications and promotion for ABCB events
  • identify opportunities to refine and improve the processes and workflow of the communications area
  • work on other tasks as required, including supporting other functions of the communications section and broader office (e.g. assist with responding to customer enquiries).
  • At the APS Level 5, you'll be expected to :

  • identify problems and work to resolve them
  • engage with and actively listen to the team, colleagues and stakeholders
  • provide impartial advice, and justify positions when challenged
  • structure written and oral communication to ensure clarity
  • monitor project progress and manage priorities.

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing or a related field are desirable but not essential.

    Part-time, job-share and full-time applicants will be considered.

    Canberra is the preferred location, but co-location with other ABCB staff in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne may be considered.
