Currently, there are up to 17 permanent and fixed term contract positions available for immediate filling in our Vocational Support Officer services roles at various locations.

This recruitment pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts and permanent opportunities.

About the role Working with Corrective Services is more than a job – it's a vocation. If you are passionate about sharing your knowledge with others to provide them with valuable work and life skills, this is the role for you.

As a Vocational Support Officer, you will provide on the job instruction, accredited training, and supervision to prisoners to support their rehabilitative journey.

Permanent positions – To be eligible for permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia .

VSO qualifications –To be eligible for positions level 3 and above, you must have a relevant qualification. Nationally recognised Australian qualifications, as well as overseas qualifications that have been officially verified for equivalency in Australia, will be accepted. Applicants with overseas qualifications or older Australian qualifications must provide an academic transcript detailing the units or modules completed within the qualification.

Please note the following additional pre-appointment requirements to comply with the Prisons Act 1981, Prison Regulations 1982, and applicable Departmental policy and procedures.

A successful applicant must :

Receive a clearance through a National Criminal History check and the Departmental integrity assessment; Provide evidence of the relevant Qualification / Academic Record (if applicable); Possess a current Australian 'C' class motor vehicle driver's licence or equivalent. Restrictions such as learner's permits, P plates or extraordinary licences are not eligible; Possess a valid Senior First Aid qualification (or equivalent) received from an accredited training provider; and Be willing to undertake the mandatory four-week Essential Training Program at the Department's Training Academy, Bentley, WA. Pool Recruitment This pool will be open for a period of twelve (12) months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
