Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack

The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. This role will join our Digital & Automation Lending Software Engineering Chapter within Business Banking Technology, where innovation meets impact.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll help shape the future of our digital lending platform, driving design innovation across Business Lending products. You’ll bring full-stack expertise—frontend, backend, and integration—to develop cloud-native solutions that power tomorrow’s bank.

Can demonstrate modern full stack C#, .NET Core, SQL, React, Next.js coding practices and drive high-quality outcomes to solve core business objectives - essential.

Have the ability to deliver performance focused solutions that cater for a high volumes and secure platforms.

Have an excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.

Apply best-practice security techniques to web applications and APIs.

Can develop scalable and secure enterprise applications capable of handling high traffic.

Are constantly collaborating within the team to apply the principles of design, development, testing, deployment, support, and evaluation.

Are actively involved in continuous learning, experimentation, and participate in peer code reviews.

Support deployments across AWS (Amazon Web Services) environments through our continuous delivery pipelines.

Tech skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team :

Back End : Proficient in .NET, .NET Core C# - essential.

Front End : Proficient in UI design and strong front-end development experience in Next JS, React, Typescript, CSS.

A keen interest in researching new AI tooling and experience in leveraging AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Roo Code and Cline.

Knowledge of or experience in implementing AI Agents is highly advantageous .

Databases : Experience in one or more of the following : SQL Server, Oracle and or Mongo DB.

Solid technical background in building microservices on AWS cloud platforms essential.

Technical expertise with container technology : Proficient with Docker, building, deploying and managing containerised applications.

Thorough understanding of large-scale distributed systems, solution design and architecture principles.

Expertise in setting up DevOps, CI / CD pipelines, logging and monitoring tools (Observe, Obstack, PagerDuty, TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Snyk and SonarQube).

Automated quality engineering and testing (Unit Testing, Regression Testing, Performance Testing, etc).
