With the implementation of a new HRIS and a shift from paper-based to fully online processes, we're modernising how we work and we're looking for a skilled Senior Payroll Officer to be part of our team.As a key member of the team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the continued delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services throughout this transition and beyond.

Reporting to the Team Leader Payroll, you'll be responsible for maintaining employee master data, supporting end-to-end payroll processing and reporting, and ensuring alignment with relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and Council policies.You are a detail-oriented professional with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and service excellence.

This is your opportunity to step into a pivotal role where your expertise will directly contribute to the efficiency and reliability of payroll operations across the organisation.You'll also have the opportunity to support continuous process improvement and help embed new systems and practices that enhance service delivery for all CBCity employees.If you're ready to bring your payroll expertise into a dynamic, supportive, and forward-thinking environment, we encourage you to apply.Duties will include but not be limited to : Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in accordance with relevant legislation, industrial awards, and Council policies, while delivering a high standard of customer service.Support the Team Leader Payroll as second-in-command (2IC), providing expert advice, operational support, and leadership to enhance team capability and service delivery.Manage and coordinate fortnightly pay runs, ensuring compliance with established procedures, meeting payroll deadlines, and achieving accuracy benchmarks.Maintain, verify, and safeguard the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of employee master data, salary records, and payroll systems to support reliable outcomes.Oversee the processing of timesheets, leave applications, and workers' compensation payments, reviewing payroll exceptions to ensure accurate remuneration.Liaise with external bodies including superannuation funds, unions, financial institutions, and collection agencies to ensure accurate deductions and full compliance.Administer all superannuation and ATO-related processes (including payments and reporting) in line with Council obligations and statutory requirements.Provide professional and timely responses to payroll and personnel enquiries, maintain detailed payroll documentation, remain up to date with legislative and system changes, and actively contribute to process improvementsFor a full list of duties, click HERE to review the position description.You will haveA minimum of five years' demonstrated experience in payroll.Proficiency in SAP, WFS or comparable HR and payroll systems, with expertise in maintaining employee payroll master data, payroll reporting, compliance and risk management.Extensive experience in managing end-to-end payroll processing.Strong knowledge of interpreting and applying industrial awards.Advanced skills in spreadsheets and Microsoft Office suite.Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, prioritise and manage workloads.Proven track record of meeting deadlines within a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.Sound understanding of financial processes relevant to payroll principles.Experience in payroll process improvements and knowledge of SAP Query Manager are advantageous but not essential.The salary range for this opportunity starts at $90,858 (Grade G, Step 1) + 12% super.
