Our established boutique ophthalmology practice in Taringa is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our specialist practice caring for adult and paediatric patients.
You will be working alongside a friendly team of 2 ophthalmologists, allied health professionals, clinic manager and the other reception and clinical support staff to deliver friendly and efficient patient care.
Our new team member will provide clinical and administrative support to our surgeons and allied health staff to facilitate great patient care.
Duties will include :
- Optimisation of patient flow and attention to patients needs during their clinic visit
- Assist with preliminary patient assessment in adults and children including history taking, basic vision tests and conducting computerised visual tests
- Assisting doctors with minor procedure (set up, procedure & and clean up)
- Assist clinical staff with theatre bookings, lists & pre and post operative pathways (as directed)
- Assist clinic manager in the maintenance of medical stock supplies
- Sterilisation of clinical instruments and rooms
- Assist with general administrative tasks (as directed)
- Completed of currently undertaking qualification in a health / health science field (Diploma or above) OR proven experience (2 years) in a clinical role [Essential]
- Experience working in surgical specialty environment [Highly regarded]
- High level of attention to detail
- High level of computer literacy including use of electronic medical record software and MS Office
- Understanding of theatre booking processes and surgical billing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A 'Can do' problem solving attitude
- Experience in providing very high quality patient care
- The ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision
- Experience working within a team in a busy health care environment
- Work efficiently within a team
On the job training in practice procedures, equipment and software will be provided with ongoing further skills development encouraged.
Remuneration will be commensurate with previous experience and qualification with opportunity for review with performance / further skill development.Job TypeCasualPay : $34.00 - $40.00 per hour
