The Curtin Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science works with industry and government to develop new optimisation technology for solving complex modelling and decision problems. The Centre was established in January 2022 and includes 19 staff whose expertise spans operations research, process control, computational modelling, and data science. Current research areas include maintenance planning and scheduling, optimising chemical processes, quantum optimisation, and drill and blast optimisation in mining.

  • Selection criteria
  • A doctoral qualification in mathematical sciences
  • A track record of publications in high-quality international journals in optimisation, applied mathematics, and operations research
  • A strong theoretical background in relevant areas such as linear and nonlinear optimisation, mixed-integer programming, algorithm design and analysis, and numerical methods
  • Excellent computing skills and experience working with relevant programming languages and platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in applied research, consulting, and research commercialisation
  • Australian citizenship (highly desirable)
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain an Australian government security clearance (highly desirable)
