How will you make an impact? At Abby Health, we care for a diverse range of patients, from young professionals managing their health on the go to rural Australians who struggle to access in-person care. Many patients don't have a regular GP, so they rely on Abby for trusted, ongoing support. We see over 7,000 patients every week.Our clinicians diagnose and treat various conditions, from general health concerns and chronic conditions to mental health and sexual health care. We ensure they get the proper treatment without unnecessary barriers, from new diagnosis to prescription, pathology request, specialist referral, or preventative care.
What you'll do : Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Clinician Engagement is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the clinical operations and supporting the performance and wellbeing of a remote workforce of General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners. With a strong clinical foundation and proven leadership capabilities, this role ensures the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred virtual care services across Australia. The role's core responsibilities will be dedicated to clinical leadership, operational excellence and management, compliance and safety, and fostering engagement of GPs and NPs who consult on the platform. This role can be full-time or part-time.Roles and responsibilities : Clinical leadership and oversightProvide clinical guidance and day-to-day support to GPs and NPs delivering care via the Abby Health platform.
Act as an escalation point for complex clinical issues, professional queries, and patient safety concerns.
Promote and uphold high standards of clinical governance, continuity of care, and medical ethics.
Operational excellence and managementMonitor and optimise clinician workflows, consultation quality, and performance metrics.
Collaborate with scheduling and operations teams to ensure adequate roster coverage and service availability.
Lead clinician onboarding, credentialing, and induction in partnership with compliance and HR teams.
Quality, safety, and complianceSupport adherence to AHPRA standards, RACGP / ACRRM guidelines, and national Telehealth regulations.
Contribute to clinical audits, incident reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Champion a safety, learning, and continuous improvement culture across the clinical workforce.
Engagement and developmentCollaborate with the Head of People to foster an engaged and supportive clinician community through regular communication, peer support, and development programs.
Conduct performance reviews and deliver feedback to support individual growth and well-being.
Identify and address training needs, knowledge gaps, and professional development opportunities.
Strategic CollaborationWork closely with executive leadership, technology, operations, customer care, and Human Resources teams to optimise clinical services.
Provide clinical insight into platform enhancements, patient experience initiatives, and service model development.
Contribute to strategic workforce planning and future clinical service design.
Key Requirements : Essential qualifications and experience : Current AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner / GP in Australia.
Fellowship with one of the following :
Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
Australian College of Remote & Rural Medicine (ACRRM)
Or an equivalent specialist qualification as recognised by AHPRA.
Minimum of 8 years post-fellowship experience in Telehealth or General Practice, with demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities.
Previous experience working in a Telehealth or digital health environment.
Deep understanding of the Australian primary care system, Medicare compliance, and virtual care models.
Desirable skills : Proven ability to lead clinical teams and manage performance and engagement in remote settings.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with digital health tools, EMRs, and virtual consultation systems.
Passion for innovation, accessibility, and high-quality patient care.
