Payroll Officer opportunity for leading service business, based in Canning Vale

  • Temporary ongoing position for a minimum of 6 months
  • Previous experience processing payroll within Australia is non-negotiable
  • Working hours : 7am to 4pm or 8am to 5pm
  • Immediate start required

Reporting to the Payroll Manager and working as part of a small payroll team, you will be repsonsible for processing payroll of up to 500 employees on a fortnightly basis.

  • Responsibilities
  • Assist with the timely processing of all employees pays.
  • Checking and auditing of all payrolls, ensuring legislative and award compliance (e.g., ATO, FWA)
  • Administer the calculation and accurate payment of any wages (e.g., Terminations, Redundancies, Bonuses)
  • Full function payroll processing including reporting, reconciliation, and tax / compliance.
  • Generating reports related to employee information.
  • Data entry and maintenance of employee records.
  • Manage all statutory obligations - PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation.
  • Producing and processing manual pays and termination payments, workers compensation etc.
  • In partnership with Finance, assist with the preparation and reconciliation of fortnightly / monthly general ledger wage journals.
  • Maintaining payroll operations by following policies and procedures
  • Actively involved in improving current processes, and increase efficiency of the payroll system
  • Developing ad hoc financial and operational reports as needed
  • Requirements and skills

  • Experience working across multiple business entities.
  • Maintaining employee payroll and personnel details for approx. 500 employees
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all legislative, taxation, superannuation and worker's compensation requirements.
  • Exceptional data entry and administrative skills, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
  • Advanced degree of computer literacy (including proficiency with Microsoft Excel).
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Great teamwork & interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and be self-motivated.
