The Science Department at Meriden oversees the teaching of Science in the School, including the senior
disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science Extension, and Junior Science to Years 7-10.
Professional Responsibilitiesplanning, preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classesdesigning a range of assessment tasks and marking guidelines and outcomesmarking work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of pupils' progress and developmentcurriculum materials
assisting in assessing changing curricular needsselecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipmentpreparing pupils for qualifications including external examinations and competitionsensuring academic reports are written in accordance with Meriden report guidelines and style rulesmeasures in cases of misbehaviour
participating in and organising extracurricular activities such as excursionsparticipating in departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole school training eventsundergoing regular observations and participating in regular in-service training as part of continuingprofessional development
working with the Head of Department and senior staff to ensure that all School policies and procedures areadhered to
realised
meeting professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines and honouringschedules
providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfil their potential for intellectual,emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth
organising and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success inaccordance with Meriden School policies
undertaking pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and supporting pupils on an individualbasis through academic or personal difficulties
