Job description

The Role

The APS 6 Logistics Technical Assessor will be accountable for a variety of activities including but not limited to :

  • Codification, cataloguing of new items of supply in accordance with Defence Logistics policy;
  • Maintain existing catalogue data to ensure compliance with policy, processes and procedures that support the acquisition and sustainment of equipment in accordance with Defence requirements;
  • Management of Obsolescence, including identification of Technical substitutions;
  • Management of ACTSS AC990 process, ensuring items managed by CA64 product schedule is appropriate;
  • Provide Technical Assessor advice relating to item management;
  • Assist ACTSS Disposal Manager with Technical data / information as requested in support to Disposal processes;
  • Generate responses to complex correspondence, briefs and reports for higher delegate consideration;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current Defence materiel logistics policies and apply this in the support of sustainment and acquisition activities;
  • Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders at the operational and business unit level;
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve materiel logistics issues;
  • Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.

About our Team

The Army Aviation Systems Branch (AASB) purpose is to deliver military aviation systems to the capability managers. AASB is responsible for the acquisition and through-life support of all Army helicopters and tactical unmanned aerial systems through both Project Offices (PO) and Systems Program Offices (SPO) within Australia and overseas.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in Logistics Technical Assessing, including performing codification and cataloguing in support of ACTSS Products;
  • Be able to interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks;
  • Experience in identifying and implementing timely outcome-based solutions to complex problems;
  • Enjoys working independently and also as a team player in a dynamic team environment;
  • Has strong stakeholder management and people skills;
  • Have a good level of computer literacy including with inventory management systems.
