Exciting opportunity to make a real impact in shaping the future of the Office of the Children's Guardian.
The Office of the Children's Guardian (OCG) upholds NSW children and young people's right to be safe by overseeing, regulating and monitoring organisations and individuals that provide services to children. We are guided by our values of integrity, trust, service, accountability, respect and empathy.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check is part of the NDIS quality and safeguarding arrangements. It aims to prevent risk of harm to people with disability (NDIS participants).
The NDIS Worker Check is a division of the OCG. It operates under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Worker Checks) Act 2018 (NSW). It screens workers that provide services and supports to people with disability (adults and children) under the NDIS. It aims to support people with disability by preventing workers that pose a risk of harm from working closely with them. We gather information about a person's history, such as their criminal and workplace records, and undertake an assessment as to whether they pose a risk.
The Manager Assessment leads and coordinates a multi-disciplinary team of Assessment Team Leaders and Officers. The team reviews and categorises criminal and other records in accordance with relevant legislation and business procedures. They make assessments as to whether an applicant poses a risk of harm to people with disability (NDIS participants). They collect, analyse and weigh information. The Manager Assessment ensures the efficient execution of records review and risk assessment decisions, consistency in decision-making across the team, and that decisions are evidence-based and legally sound. The Manager Assessment provides advice and guidance, develops capabilities and competency and ensures compliance with relevant legislation, business policies and procedures. The Manager Assessment demonstrates our values (fair, open, accountable, respectful), is considered and decisive, technically competent, and has strong people management and customer service skills.
