Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interviewing prospective and existing clients to understand their specific insurance requirements, clearly explaining policy conditions, coverage details, premium structures, and associated benefits.
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and needs analyses to recommend appropriate types and levels of insurance coverage.
  • Researching, evaluating, and comparing insurance products from a diverse range of insurers to find the most suitable and competitive options for clients.
  • Arranging and placing insurance cover on behalf of clients with various insurance companies and underwriters.
  • Negotiating policy terms, conditions, and premiums with insurers to secure the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Advising clients on significant changes in their risk profile or in the insurance market that may impact their coverage.
  • Managing client portfolios, including policy renewals, endorsements, and handling client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assisting clients with the claims process, acting as an advocate to ensure fair and prompt settlement.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, insurers, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Ensuring all activities adhere to strict compliance with relevant industry regulations (e.g., ASIC, Corporations Act) and company policies.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry developments, new products, and legislative changes.

Requirements Added by the Job Poster

  • Qualifications :
  • A minimum of an AQF Diploma or higher qualification in Financial Services (Insurance Broking).
  • Tier 1 (Insurance Broking) RG146 compliance is essential.
  • Applicants must have full, unrestricted work rights in Australia
  • Experience Required :
  • A minimum of 2+ years of demonstrated experience working as an Insurance Broker within the Australian general insurance market, particularly with business and commercial clients.
  • Proven track record in client relationship management, portfolio growth, and providing high-quality insurance advice.
  • Experience in handling complex claims is highly desirable.
  • Skills and Attributes :
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of general insurance products and the Australian insurance market.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in using insurance broking software (e.g., like WinBEAT, Ebix, etc.) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong ethical standards and a client-first approach.
  • Salary : Salary : $76,000 - $100,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.
