The Delivery Services Officer is responsible for collecting and distributing mail, freight and other items (e.g.
portable furniture and equipment) and assists with the collection of classified waste and accommodation tasks. As required, this officer also supports other areas of the Senators' Services section, which may include setting up and servicing Senate Committee Rooms.
Occupants of this position form a pool of sessional employees who assist the Senators' Services section with the additional work generated during parliamentary sittings, on an as required basis.
Duties may include collecting, sorting and delivering mail, moving large and heavy items such as furniture, paper recycling bags and parcels and undertaking support tasks associated with Senate Committee Room bookings and Senate Estimates hearings.
These positions require extensive walking and lifting of large and / or heavy items in a safe manner. Occupants may be required to work overtime as required in accordance with the Senate sitting pattern, and are required to wear a uniform.
