As a Deckhand / Fishing Hand your duties will include but not limited tohandling ropes and wires, and operating mooring equipment when berthing and unberthingstanding lookout watches at sea and adjusting the ship's course as directed;assisting with cargo operations using on-board equipment and stowing and securing cargopatrolling ships to ensure safety of the vessel, cargo and passengers performing routine maintenance and checks on deck equipment, cargo gear, rigging, and lifesaving and firefighting appliancesattaching gear and fastening towing cables to netscasting and lowering nets, pots, lines and traps into waterpreparing lines, attaching running gear and bait, and setting lines into positionhauling in fishing gear and removing fish and other marine lifesorting, cleaning, preserving, stowing and refrigerating catch.Personality & Positive attributesTakes initiativePassionate and positive personalityAbility to communicate clearlyExcellent time management skillsAbility to work under pressureGood conflict resolution skillsEnjoys being part of a team and recognising team successesMust be willing to work at multiple different sites as we operate out of 3 areas.Essential Experience & RequirementsA minimum of one years Australian work experience on board a commercial fishing vessel (as evidenced in your seatime / logbook).Hold a current Workplace First Aid certificate.An understanding of Maritime & AMSA / MSQ / GBRMPA regulationsWilling to undergo a pre-employment medical checkholds safety and rescue certificates compliant with the international convention on standards of training, Certification and watch keeping for Seafarers 1978.HIGHLY DESIREDBilingual Communication
