The Australian Sports Commission is embarking on the Green and Gold decade. An exciting time filled with international sporting competitions on home soil, including the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cup, and culminating in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We have an ambitious new Strategic Vision and we need the best players on our team to help us deliver real results for the sporting sector and all Australians.

Are you up for the challenge?

About the team – This opportunity sits within the ASC’s Finance and Governance Group — a team committed to shape and drive the strategic direction of the ASC - through the promotion of fiscal responsibility, enhancements to capabilities and efficient enabling services. Within this Group, the Financial Accounting Branch and specifically the Procure to Pay (P2P) Team are responsible for delivering procurement, purchasing, and associated corporate services across the ASC. We are dedicated to developing streamlined, integrated solutions that enable our people to focus on delivering successful procurement outcomes, while reducing unnecessary complexity and administrative burden.

We value collaboration, innovation, and integrity, and we offer a supportive environment where you can make a real impact. If you are passionate about driving operational excellence and enjoy working in a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation, we would love for you to join us.

About the role – As a Procurement Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, strategic, and solutions-focused procurement advice and support across the ASC. You will work closely with the Assistant Director and the broader P2P Team to enhance procurement practices, strengthen current frameworks, and support the delivery of effective and compliant procurement outcomes.

In this role, you will :

  • Provide strategic procurement advice and hands-on support to ensure the successful delivery of key initiatives, including the ASC’s AIS Podium Project, a high-value infrastructure project critical to the ASC.
  • Develop and review procurement documentation, assist with planning activities, and guide stakeholders through end-to-end procurement processes.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal clients, offering practical training and advice to uplift procurement capabilities across the ASC.
  • Manage procurement systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and user experience.

You will also assist in broader procurement activities across the ASC, providing expert advice, supporting project delivery, and helping to embed best-practice procurement principles throughout the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and solutions-driven professional to work in a collaborative, high-performing team and contribute to meaningful, sports sector-wide outcomes.

About you – To succeed in this role, you will bring :

  • Relevant qualifications in procurement, contract management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic procurement, commercial engagements, and policy development in a government or similar environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret, apply, and navigate legislative frameworks and procurement policy requirements.
  • Proven experience in providing compelling, timely, and solutions-focused advice to a range of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed skills in managing competing priorities, risk, and strategic planning.
  • A track record of leading or contributing to cultural change and improving compliance through innovative procurement practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • A proactive, continuous improvement mindset with a focus on achieving practical, high-value outcomes.
  • This position is offered as an ONGOING position.

    Why work with us?

We have offices located in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. Across all locations, we offer :

  • Options for flexible working arrangements.
  • Annual allowances towards training based on individualised career goals.
  • Access to a customised ASC L&D calendar for ongoing professional and career development.
  • Generous superannuation scheme with up to 15.4% employer contributions.
  • Access to Clearinghouse for Sport, an information sharing platform for Sporting professionals.
  • Additionally, our Canberra campus offers :

  • Free onsite parking
  • Onsite facilities including café, dining hall, gym, and swimming pool.
  • Priority placement for your children to access the award winning, onsite AIS Caretaker’s Cottage Childcare Centre.
