Hutcheon Mearns is recruiting, on an exclusive basis, for a Head of Finance role to take ownership of the strategic and operational delivery of financial services in a prominent Scottish organisation, based in Perth . You will join a mission-led organisation and play a key role in the local leadership team, with responsibility across the finance and payroll functions, a team of 13 people.
As an experienced finance professional, you will have a proven track record of overseeing operational finance functions, hands-on technical accounting knowledge in addition to demonstrating the credibility and gravitas to influence real change.
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal role within the organisation and one which will drive change to achieve organisational outcomes. Within this role you will;
- Develop, embed and lead the organisation's Finance strategy, aligning it with organisational goals in the face of budget pressures
- Be accountable for - and hands-on, where required, for annual budgets, management accounts, forecasts, cashflow forecasts and financial returns
- Lead the annual statutory accounts process including liaising with external auditors
- Encourage and promote income generation across the organisation
- Ensure robust financial controls and processes are in place to mitigate financial risk and ensure financial sustainability
- Lead, develop and sustain a positive working culture, collaborative working and ensure excellent customer service from the Finance team
The Candidate
We are seeking an individual with :
A recognised professional accounting qualification (CA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)Proven experience leading a finance function in a complex, multi-stakeholder environmentStrong knowledge of financial legislation and ideally public sector funding principlesExperience managing audits, reporting cycles and internal financial controlsExcellent leadership and people management skills and experience building high performance teamsStrategic mindset coupled with strong operational awareness and deliveryThe ability to communicate financial information to financial and non-financial audiencesBenefits and Conditions
