The Salvation Army National Family Violence Stream offers specialist programs to families and individuals who are experiencing and recovering from family violence, modern slavery and forced marriage. Our services focus on prevention, restoration and healing using evidence-based theories and frameworks. About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Support Worker who will support single women, transgender women, and women and their children who have experienced Family Violence to support client led case plans within a residential crisis accommodation setting.
Working within a specialist field, prior experience within Family and Domestic Violence is highly desirable for this role.
Due to the nature of this service, to identify as a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s.31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
This is a permanent part-time position based on Gadigal Land in central Sydney, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 4.
You will successfully- Provide clients accessing our crisis accommodation with a welcoming and responsive initial contact.- Support our clients to ensure that urgent and immediate needs are addressed.- Support with risk assessments and ongoing safety management.- Provide information to assist in assessing and addressing client issues, needs and circumstances.- Establish effective relationships with clients that encourage self-determination, participation and support them to meet their goals- Assist clients to access support services.- Assist the Case Managers and clients to progress in their case plans.
You will have- A Cert IV Community Studies or significant relevant experience.- Relevant experience in a social service environment- Trauma and Domestic Violence Informed Practice.- A person Centred, Strength Based approach.- A NSW Working with Children Check.
