Job descriptionThe perks of working with Horner at ANSTO Based in Lucas Heights at the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) Work within a world-class research facility in a role with real-world impact! Onsite gym and swimming pool 65-90 p / hr on a maximum term contract with paid leave and paid public holidays What you will be doing Install and maintain PLC systems Fault finding and augmenting existing PLC and SCADA systems Maintain and deploy field cable connectors, cable chains and cabling Look for solutions and provide specialist advice on issues of cabling and cable chaining Write testing and commissioning manuals to ensure deployed systems meet performance standards Carry out testing and commissioning to established protocols Carry out bench testing of mechanical items requiring motion control or control systems to verify designs Augment existing control cabinet systems and wiring to accommodate new axes and hardware Order electrical equipment and make purchasing recommendations for spares Provide technical advice to contribute to the continuous improvement of the instruments Plan maintenance periods, repairs and upgrades to synchronise with instrument availability Document and draft instrument changes to the as built and original specifications Develop prototype designs for instrument upgrades. Install and test instrumentation and systems from engineering documentation and drawings. Selection Criteria Essential : _ Ability to communicate effectively and to provide clear status updates of work packages Proven ability to interact and work within a team environment of electrical control systems experts Electrical trade certificate (A Grade) with ability to work as an electrician in Australia Significant experience building and wiring electrical control cabinets (minimum ten years) Significant experience in structured field cabling (minimum ten years) Ability to build a control cabinet from an electrical schematic and complete functional testing Significant experience deploying electrical control cabinets in the field, testing and commissioning Significant PLC programming experience from a zero base (minimum 5 years) Significant SCADA experience (minimum 5 years) Ability to read, understand, interpret, and fault find an electrical schematic Desirable : _ Experience with Allen Bradley Rockwell Control Logix 5000 and PLC field communication protocols including DeviceNet or Profibus Demonstrated experience with terminating multi-core cables on Mil spec connectors Ability to sketch electrical control system circuits in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical Experience in configuration and integration of stepper motors in mechanical assemblies, precision rotary encoding systems, associated interface electronics, mechanical integration, and cabling.
