Use your hands on experience in electrical and mechatronic controls systems to provide support to the Electrical Engineering team at the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering which is a part of Australian Nuclear and Science Technology Organisation (ANSTO) in Lucas Heights.
The perks of working with Horner at ANSTOBased in Lucas Heights at the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS)Work within a world-class research facility in a role with real-world impact!Onsite gym and swimming pool65-90 p / hr on a maximum term contract with paid leave and paid public holidaysWhat you will be doingInstall and maintain PLC systemsFault finding and augmenting existing PLC and SCADA systemsMaintain and deploy field cable connectors, cable chains and cablingLook for solutions and provide specialist advice on issues of cabling and cable chainingWrite testing and commissioning manuals to ensure deployed systems meet performance standardsCarry out testing and commissioning to established protocolsCarry out bench testing of mechanical items requiring motion control or control systems to verify designsAugment existing control cabinet systems and wiring to accommodate new axes and hardwareOrder electrical equipment and make purchasing recommendations for sparesProvide technical advice to contribute to the continuous improvement of the instrumentsPlan maintenance periods, repairs and upgrades to synchronise with instrument availabilityDocument and draft instrument changes to the as built and original specificationsDevelop prototype designs for instrument upgrades.Install and test instrumentation and systems from engineering documentation and drawings.Selection CriteriaEssential : _Ability to communicate effectively and to provide clear status updates of work packagesProven ability to interact and work within a team environment of electrical control systems expertsElectrical trade certificate (A Grade) with ability to work as an electrician in AustraliaSignificant experience building and wiring electrical control cabinets (minimum ten years)Significant experience in structured field cabling (minimum ten years)Ability to build a control cabinet from an electrical schematic and complete functional testingSignificant experience deploying electrical control cabinets in the field, testing and commissioningSignificant PLC programming experience from a zero base (minimum 5 years)Significant SCADA experience (minimum 5 years)Ability to read, understand, interpret, and fault find an electrical schematicDesirable : _Experience with Allen Bradley Rockwell Control Logix 5000 and PLC field communication protocols including DeviceNet or ProfibusDemonstrated experience with terminating multi-core cables on Mil spec connectorsAbility to sketch electrical control system circuits in AutoCAD or AutoCAD ElectricalExperience in configuration and integration of stepper motors in mechanical assemblies, precision rotary encoding systems, associated interface electronics, mechanical integration, and cabling.How to apply
