About the roleOur Queensland State Government client is seeking a Capability Lead (Process and Forms Automation) to lead the strategic design and implementation of automation initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and innovation.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving the full automation lifecycle across multiple business areas, while ensuring solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture, security, compliance standards, and strategic objectives.
You will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders and delivery partners to uplift digital capabilities and champion a culture of continuous improvement and productivity.Key responsibilitiesDevelop and implement a strategic automation roadmap that aligns with business priorities and enterprise IT direction.Lead the design, deployment, and optimisation of RPA and AI / ML solutions across the department.Ensure all automation initiatives comply with relevant data governance, privacy, and security standards.Promote adoption of automation solutions through education, training, and stakeholder engagement.Collaborate with enterprise data teams to ensure the quality and reliability of data used in automation pipelines.Establish automation governance frameworks and policies to manage risk and ensure sustainable innovation.Continuously monitor industry trends to evolve automation capabilities and maintain alignment with best practice.Skills and experienceTertiary qualifications in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications desirable).5+ years' experience in automation leadership roles, including hands-on delivery of RPA and AI / ML solutions.Proficiency in automation platforms such as UiPath, Power Automate, or Automation Anywhere.Strong scripting knowledge in Python or PowerShell, and experience with OCR, NLP, and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).Demonstrated capability in agile project delivery, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and risk management.High-level analytical and decision-making skills, with a strong ability to translate technical strategies into business value.Experience in navigating public sector environments or highly regulated industries is advantageous.BenefitsInitial 12-month contract with extensions likelyWork for a large QLD State Government department.Hybrid working arrangements from their Brisbane CBD location.Contact detailsFor a confidential chat, please contact Maliha on0447 071 145or via email at
