  • Our Natural Systems unit have an exciting opportunity to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis in a newly created position as Environmental Sustainability Officer.

    Take advantage of this unique prospect to effectively develop, implement, review and report on Council's environmental sustainability plans, strategies, policies, projects and programs in accordance with relevant legislation in alignment with Council's Vision, Values and Operational Plan.

    The role of the Environmental Sustainability Officer is to drive organisational sustainability outcomes at Port Stephens Council through the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives. The role is also expected to provide significant support to the Environmental Strategy Team Leader and the Natural Systems team. The range of tasks includes strategic management planning, scoping proposing and implementing projects, writing and administering contracts, reviewing budgets and coordinating consultants. The role is focused on achieving sustainable behaviors and environmental awareness across key sections of the council with emphasis on an organisational approach to Sustainability.

    The role provides environmental sustainability advice and support to community members, industry partners and internal stakeholders.

    • 82,833 to $97,019 pa based on a 35 hour week (includes 10.5% superannuation + retention allowance)
