The University Library consists of five libraries networked across Australia. While the individual libraries are managed locally, they report nationally to the University Librarian.
About the role
The Liaison Librarian provides a comprehensive range of library education,research services,programsand resources, whichinvolvesdirectly engaging with students and academic staff.
The Liaison Librarian is a key liaison point between the Library,Universityand internal and external client groups.
The Liaison Librarian works as part of Faculty, library and department teams to initiate, plan and deliver projects to enhance library education and research services while providing specialist advice that contributes to the advancement of the Library's strategic objectives. The position reports to the Manager, Research Services.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, implement,deliverand evaluatea range of library education and research servicesfor staff and students in collaboration with key stakeholders across the University, that closely align with faculty and Library objectivesProvide specialist and disciplinary expertise and advice to staff and students on resource discovery andevaluation, complex search strategies, scholarly communication, research data management andresearch impact,whilstbuilding and sustaining researcher engagement across faculties to enableeffective research practice.Contribute to the review and maintenance of Library collection, information and data managementpolicies, practices,activitiesand systems including monitoring and reporting mechanisms.Contribute to negotiations with vendors, suppliers,consortiaand stakeholders in relation to access and use of resources, and monitoring and reporting on relevant collection trends, issues and developments.Provide specialist expertise and advice to Library colleagues and other university staff, and contributeto planning, working groups and committees to maximise engagement opportunities, promoteinitiatives and ensure delivery of project outcomes.Mentor and contribute to the professional development of other Library staff and / or lead, support andmotivate a small team as required.Qualifications, skills & experienceSelection criteria :
Possession of a degree qualification with relevant work experience and / or a combination of extensive experience,educationor training.Demonstrated experience in library services work environment, including the design, delivery and evaluation of education and research programs.Experiencein collaborating across teams for projects, committees and working groups.Sound understanding of the requirements for information management throughout the research lifecycle, including scholarly communication in a university or research environment.Established knowledge of relevant subject disciplines, scholarly communication, research data management and research impact, together with demonstrated experience in collection development and budget monitoring.Strong organisational skills with the ability to set prioritiesand achieve team objectives and offer mentorship to colleagues.Demonstrated knowledge and advanced skills in resource discovery and evaluation, complex search strategies and capacity to engage with new technologies and areas of interest.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise, advise and negotiate at high levels and prepare and deliver professional presentations and documentation for various audiences.Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.BenefitsOn-site gym and fitness programs available.Located in historic Fremantle.Within walking distance from public transport.How to applyPlease apply online with a resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role by addressing the Selection Criteria.
