Lead our Intercity Services branch, responsible for operating intercity train services and intercity stations from Central Station to regional centres across NSW.

Reporting to the Chief Executive you will be an integral part of our Leadership Team. In this role you will hold the accountability for the leadership of strategic direction, operations and performance to ensure the the delivery of safe and reliable Intercity services.

In this 15 month position, some of your key responsibilities will include :

  • Leading the ongoing integration of Intercity services into Sydney Trains.
  • Building leadership capability within the Intercity services branch.
  • Leading the operational performance and safety of the branch.
  • Ensuring the modernisation of technology and systems is rolled out across the branch.
  • Leading and empowering branch management teams, ensuring performance, benchmarks and customer satisfaction measures are set and achieved.
  • Identifying opportunities for ongoing enhancements to deliver operational programs and services.

You are an experienced operational leader looking for an opportunity to build world class services within an organisation that is subject to high levels of public scrutiny :

  • You will have demonstrated experience at a high reliability organisation developing, leading, and driving change, while maintaining a commitment to operational service efficiency and outcomes.
  • You will possess strong experience resolving service performance issues.
  • You bring deep experience building a team culture of performance.
  • You are a passionate leader and have a passion for building the engagement of a workforce to high levels.
  • You have strong stakeholder management skills with experience in leading a function within a high reliability / high risk working environment within a large and complex industrial and / or public sector organisation.
  • You bring the ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward compelling arguments and rationales to all levels and types of audiences.
  • You are experienced in creating, delivering and maintaining clear outcomes focused service delivery frameworks across a large scale, operational organisation.
  • You bring a strong understanding of the machinery of government and how to get things done in the public sector.
  • You will understand the balance of addressing customer requirements whilst adhering to other regulatory, policy, government and operational conditions.
