Recycling Site Manager – Clontarf QLD

Kogan People Solutions, recruiters, are working with an accredited Container Refund Point (CRP) operator under Queensland’s Containers for Change scheme, who are seeking an experienced and capable Recycling Site Manager to oversee the environmental performance, regulatory compliance, and daily operational standards across a high-volume recycling facility. This is a senior site leadership role, ideal for someone with a deep knowledge of waste recovery operations and a commitment to circular economy outcomes.

About the Role :

As the Recycling Site Manager, you will be responsible for managing the operational and environmental performance of the recycling depot, ensuring full compliance with Queensland’s waste legislation and Container Refund Scheme operational standards. The role demands a strong background in environmental systems, regulatory liaison, and process efficiency.

You’ll oversee container throughput, site cleanliness, contamination control, staff training, and engagement with regulators and external partners. The role is central to achieving performance targets under the Container Refund Scheme and aligning with state-wide sustainability goals.

Tenure : The role is full time and ongoing.

Location : Based in Clontarf QLD.

Salary : A great salary package is offered in the range of $85k to $95k plus superannuation per annum.

Responsibilities will include :

  • Manage the site’s Environmental Management System (EMS) and oversee day-to-day operational standards.
  • Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Lead depot-level KPI tracking (e.g., container recovery, contamination rates, waste diversion).
  • Engage and coordinate with COEX (Container Exchange), regulators, and local government bodies during audits, reviews, and reporting.
  • Train and manage site staff and contractors in environmental best practices and site procedures.
  • Plan for upcoming Container Refund Scheme changes, including eligible container expansion.
  • Maintain stockpiling, waste handling, and site logistics in line with regulatory and environmental expectations.
  • Provide expert advice to the management team on environmental risk, compliance obligations, and anticipated regulatory changes.

Responsibilities will also include ensuring full compliance with :

  • Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 (Qld)
  • Waste Reduction and Recycling Regulation 2023 (Qld)
  • Queensland’s Container Refund Scheme (COEX)
  • Queensland’s Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy
  • To be considered for this role you should be able to positively address the following attributes :

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Waste Management, Logistics, or related field or agreed equivalent.
  • At least 1 years, preferably more, of hands-on experience managing waste, recycling, or container recovery facilities.
  • Strong understanding of the Queensland Container Refund Scheme, including container eligibility, reporting requirements, and COEX standards.
  • Background in compliance reporting, environmental auditing, and operational risk management.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills for supervising teams and liaising with stakeholders.
  • You must have unrestricted full time Australian working rights to be considered .
