  • The Role
  • The Workforce Australia for Business Division operates national and local workforce programs and provides strategic policy advice to address workforce challenges. This ranges from the energy transition and net zero to regional and place-based initiatives such as the Local Jobs Program, Employment Facilitators, Harvest Trail Services and Workforce Specialists.

    We want people who are keen to understand changing economic conditions and contribute to positive workplace change that will help prepare the Australian workforce for the future.

  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities of the APS5 Policy Officer may include :

  • Using evidence from analysis, research and evaluations to identify emerging issues and make recommendations for potential policy improvements.
  • Providing high quality advice to the executive and government on employment-related issues.
  • Developing policy proposals and documents such as briefs for the department's senior executive and the minister, talking points, governance and planning materials.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to understand how policies and programs operate on the ground, and how they can be improved.
