About the roleBethany is excited to advertise for the role of Contact Worker, based in Geelong. This is a casual position, reporting to the Team Leader - Supervised Contact. The successful applicant will work across Bethany's Children Contact Service (CCS) and Family Engagement Service (FES). Both services offer families an independent and neutral venue where supervised contact visits for children and young people of separated parents can occur in a safe, supportive, and family friendly environment.
The hours of operation for this service are Thursday and Friday 12 : 30pm to 6 : 30pm, and Saturday 9 : 00am to 5 : 30pm. The hours of work will vary dependent on service demand.
- Key responsibilities
- To supervise and support contact visits between children and their parents / guardian or significant family members ensuring that the needs and wellbeing of children and young people are prioritized at all times.
- To maintain clear and detailed written records of all observations, interactions and supervised contact visits with parents and children.
- To facilitate changeover of children from one parent to another in accordance with clearly defined procedures and practice standards.
- To ensure that the program policies and guidelines are adhered to in order to promote and ensure children's safety and well-being while using the service; including compliance with all policies and procedures of the program and the organisation.
- About you
- A relevant qualification or currently studying Social Work, Psychology, or other related discipline relevant to the human services sector.
- Understanding of child development, family violence, trauma informed and strength based practice.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, including experience in undertaking observation of parent / child behaviour.
