The hospital, a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney, provides inpatient services including coronary and intensive care, orthopaedic, general medical, surgical, obstetric, mental health, paediatric and emergency services.
The hospital is currently undergoing a $321 million redevelopment which will deliver a state-of-the-art hospital designed to provide the best possible health care to the local community.
Stage 1 of the redevelopment - a $121 million investment - is complete. It includes eight new operating theatres, a central sterilising service, surgical in-patient units, pathology services, kitchens and improved health information services.

The hospital is located in a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, 25 km from the CBD.
