Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic employee relations policies that balance the interests of the organisation and its workforce. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with staff, senior management, and external partners. Superior leadership abilities, with evidence of successful team management and the ability to work autonomously under broad direction. Strong analytical skills, with a deep understanding of industrial law and the capacity to interpret agreements, awards, and legislation. The Opportunity
Monash University is seeking an experienced workplace relations professional to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our Workplace Relations team. Reporting to the Director, Workplace Relations, you will play a pivotal role in resolving disputes, managing grievances, and providing strategic advice to senior management on industrial and employment relations matters.
Key Responsibilities include :
- Provide a first point of contact for university managers and staff for advice on workplace relations matters, assisting the Director, Workplace Relations with the ongoing management of workplace relations cases.
- Take responsibility for particular workplace relations matters, including highly complex issues and specialist negotiations.
- Play a key role in the supporting enterprise bargaining negotiations for the university, with appropriate unions and other stakeholders.
- Represent the university in discussions with unions, enterprise bargaining, and external industrial tribunals.
- Contribute to policy development, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and university objectives.
- Provide leadership to Workplace Relations staff, fostering professional growth and effective dispute resolution.
- Provide workplace relations specialist support / advice for key HR projects.
