About theRole :
TheAboriginal Education Directorate provides strategic cultural andpolicy advice on national and state policy direction in relation toAboriginal education and contributes to the implementation of theDepartment’s Aboriginal Education Strategy.
Collaborating closelywith the Local Education Teams (LETs), the Aboriginal CommunityEducation Team Leader will take a holistic perspective across anetwork of schools and sites to identify immediate and long-termservice requirements for Aboriginal children and young people,improving learning and wellbeing outcomes.
TheAboriginal Community Education Team Leader will contribute to thedevelopment, improvement and implementation of the policies,practices, support, and services provided to Aboriginal childrenand young people. The role will also provide advisory andconsultative services to internal stakeholders to improve decisionmaking and service provision impacting the participation ineducation and early childhood services of Aboriginal children,students, their parents, and families.
TheAboriginal Community Education Team Leader will effectivelyadvocate for Aboriginal education and child development, lead thedevelopment and establishment of effective Aboriginal engagementinitiatives and establish Aboriginal community and staff engagementnetworks that build capacity of our partnerships and sites to meetthe educational needs of our Aboriginal children and youngpeople.
Qualificationand skills :
- A certificate 4 or higher education qualification in education, human or community services, or equivalent experience (essential)
- Leadership and Management training or qualifications (desired)
- Demonstrated experience in report writing
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills with proven experience in facilitating effective Aboriginal community engagement
- Demonstrated leadership skills involving working with and supervising Aboriginal staff
- Proven understanding and respect of Aboriginal culture and community needs
- Proven knowledge in policy development pertaining to education, early childhood development and child wellbeing
- Proven knowledge and commitment in promoting and creating safe and inclusive work environment.
SpecialConditions :

Pleasenote that department employees working in high-risk environmentsare required to maintain up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19,with a TGA Approved Vaccine. Vaccination status must be disclosedand provided for sighting on request.
Thesuccessful applicant is required to gain a Department for HumanServices (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to beingemployed which is required to be renewed every five years beforeexpiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC(Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care)Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online(Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated everythree years.

AEW5 : $93,659 - $100,872
