With over 20 in-house labels and contract manufacturing services provided for more than 50 different wine brands, our client has established itself as a trusted production partner both domestically and internationally.
Their bottling and export operations extend to key markets including China, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom, reflecting the winery’s global reach and reputation for quality and reliability.
Operating across 16 hectares of certified organic vineyards, the winery features a state-of-the-art production and in-house bottling facility, ensuring full control from growing grapes to vine to bottle. The company is aiming to become one of industry leader in sustainable viticulture and environmental innovation in SA signatory wine region
About the Role
We are seeking a bilingual specialist to lead sustainability initiatives and support engineering infrastructure across both agricultural operations, with a focus on advancing organic certification standards and developing future carbon footprint reduction strategies. This role combines geospatial analysis, environmental engineering, and project development to promote innovation and long-term ecological performance.
Key Responsibilities
- GIS Ecosystem Management
- Conduct spatial analysis of soil profiles and microclimates using ArcGIS Pro
- Track environmental trends through geospatial monitoring systems
- Develop precision agriculture models to optimize irrigation and nutrient application, also to reduce synthetic inputs and support carbon sequestration initiatives.
- Waste Stream Engineering
- Design and implement closed-loop systems for organic byproduct reuse aligned with circular economy principles
- Establish ISO 14001-compliant waste protocols across viticulture, production, and bottling lines
- Manage bioremediation efforts to address runoff and maintain soil health
- Infrastructure & Energy Planning
- Model facility expansions using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Lead feasibility studies for solar, wind, and other renewable energy solutions, and conduct carbon footprint audits (Scope 1-3 emissions) to inform decarbonization roadmaps.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers on carbon-neutral winery and bottling infrastructure
- Policy Development & Compliance
- Monitor and respond to emerging environmental regulations
- Contribute to internal environmental audits and compliance reporting
- Prepare carbon disclosure reports (e.g., CDP) and align practices with Climate Active certification requirements.
