Electrical Motor Rewinder / Armature Winder

Workshop-based (Industrial Electrical Motor Repair Facility in Wetherill park, NSW, Australia)

Experience Required

Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience in electrical motor rewinding, repair, and overhaul of AC/DC motors.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Motor Rewinder with strong workshop experience in diagnosing, rewinding, repairing, and testing industrial electric motors. The successful candidate will be responsible for full‑cycle motor repair including disassembly, fault diagnosis, rewinding, insulation, reassembly, and testing of rotating electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Motor Repair & Rewinding

Rewind AC and DC electric motors (LV & MV preferred)
Perform stator, rotor, armature, and field winding repairs
Strip, clean, and rebuild damaged motors
Replace or repair insulation systems and windings

Testing & Diagnostics

Conduct electrical testing (megger, hi‑pot, resistance testing)
Identify electrical and mechanical faults in motors
Perform vibration and insulation checks (where applicable)
Verify motor performance post‑repair

Workshop Operations

Use motor rewind tools, coil winding machines, and ovens
Maintain accurate winding data and job records
Ensure quality control at every stage of repair
Follow workshop safety procedures and standards

Documentation

Record winding data, failure analysis, and repair details
Complete job cards and test reports accurately
Assist in root cause analysis of motor failures

Technical Skills Required

Strong knowledge of AC/DC motor construction and operation
Experience with stator and rotor rewinding, armature winding, coil forming and insulation techniques
Ability to read technical drawings and winding diagrams
Experience using insulation testers (Megger), hi‑pot testers, electrical diagnostic tools

Experience Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience in motor rewinding workshop environment
Proven hands‑on experience in industrial motor repair
Experience with LV motors essential; MV/HV experience preferred
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Exposure to industrial sectors (ports, mining, manufacturing, logistics preferred)

Safety & Compliance

Strong understanding of workshop WHS practices
Ability to work safely with electrical and rotating machinery
Compliance with industry repair and testing standards (EASA‑style practices preferred)

Desirable (Nice to Have)

Experience with generators, alternators, transformers
Forklift / crane licence (for motor handling)
Exposure to vibration analysis or predictive maintenance
Experience working in OEM or industrial rewind workshops
