Job description

At Thales, we know technology has the ability to make our world more secure, sustainable, and inclusive – and that it’s all driven by human intelligence.

Because it takes human intelligence to build and power the systems and solutions that people depend on every day. So we stay curious and make space for diverse points of view. We share what we know and we challenge what’s possible.

From manufacturing and engineering to cybersecurity and space, we’re driving progress in some of the world’s most important industries – and working together to build a future we can all trust.

Drive the future of Defence! As the RTO Manager, you’ll be at the heart of growing and empowering our vital workforce—fuelling the next generation of Defence capability.

Your work will be key to building strategic partnerships with the Commonwealth and shaping the force that protects Australia. Become the difference‑maker who enables the war fighter to TRAIN – FIGHT - WIN.

Within this dynamic and rapidly expanding setting, our Thales Ordnance Training Centre (TOTC) operates as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), offering a wide array of qualifications ranging from Certificate II in Explosive Ordnance to Graduate Certificate‑level qualifications in Explosives.

In this exciting role, you will be involved in overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the RTO, working closely with the senior leadership team within the Division to define the strategic direction of the business. This could involve delivering services to organizations, both nationally and internationally, and steering the RTO towards becoming a commercially thriving business entity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor teams, fostering a positive culture, and driving innovation and project management for exceptional service
  • Oversee RTO compliance, reporting, and legal adherence to regulations and standards like AQTF and RTO Standards
  • Create and execute a growth‑focused strategic plan for the RTO
  • Supervise RTO administration, encompassing finances, records, and reporting
  • Efficiently manage student enrolment processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Develop training strategies and materials through quality assurance and innovation
  • Identify growth opportunities, build relationships, and promote TOTC training products for expansion
  • Explore opportunities to expand the range of training programs and services

Requirements:

  • A proven leadership experience in an RTO or related educational setting
  • Tertiary qualification such as Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or higher is required
  • Track record in effectively managing multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement and innovative training processes
  • Solutions‑oriented mindset for issue identification and resolution to ensure compliance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Learning and Student Management Systems, and educational design software
  • Demonstrated organisational, project management, and administrative skills with a knack for task prioritisation and meeting deadlines
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.

As part of our commitment, we offer:

  • Salary packaging includes healthcare and bonus payments
  • Recognised leader in reservist employee support
  • Flexible Work Arrangement Options
  • Leading leave policies
  • Growth and Development opportunities
  • Study Assistance
  • Access to a network of the best people (A Noble Prize winner on our staff list!)
  • Gym Membership (Fitness passport)
  • ThalesFlex – flexibility working is our everyday
  • Family Support through our partnership with Parents at Work
  • Employee Share Purchase Plans
  • Employee discounts with a number of affiliates (Travel, Car hire, Tech)
  • And much more!
