Purpose of the Role
The Senior Web Designer is responsible for the conceptualisation, design, and development of visually engaging and user-centric digital interfaces. The role aligns with ANZSCO requirements for Web Designers and involves planning, designing, and implementing website layouts and user experiences that meet client objectives, usability standards, and technical requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
● Planning, designing, and developing website layouts, user interfaces, and interactive features in accordance with client briefs and functional specifications.
● Creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to communicate design concepts and user journeys effectively.
● Analysing user requirements and translating them into intuitive, accessible, and responsive web design solutions.
● Designing digital assets, including graphics, layouts, and multimedia elements for websites and online platforms.
● Ensuring consistency of brand identity and visual communication across all digital touchpoints.
● Collaborating with developers to implement designs, review builds, and ensure accuracy in execution across devices and browsers.
● Applying usability principles, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive design techniques to optimise user experience.
● Conducting testing and evaluation of website functionality, user experience, and performance, and recommending improvements.
● Researching emerging web design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve design quality and innovation.
● Managing multiple web design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goals.
● Preparing design documentation, specifications, and assets for development handover.
● Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to present concepts and incorporate feedback into final deliverables.
Skills and Qualifications
● Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in web design, digital design, or a related field.
● Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Design, Web Design, Digital Media, or a related discipline.
● Advanced proficiency in Figma, including prototyping, design systems, and developer handoff.
● Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
● Solid understanding of UI/UX principles, user-centred design, and responsive web design.
● Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and usability best practices.
● Familiarity with front-end development processes and ability to collaborate effectively with developers.
● Strong problem-solving, organisational, and time management skills.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts to clients.
● Demonstrated portfolio of high-quality web design and digital interface projects.
Position in Organisation
The Senior Web Designer reports to the Creative Director and works collaboratively with developers, account managers, and clients to deliver high-quality digital outcomes.
