The Opportunity

  • Deliver technical expertise and support to Thiess ICT by implementing ICT network solutions.
  • Document and Enforce: Assist the ICT Network Team in documenting and implementing network policies and standards to ensure a superior communications environment for the business.
  • Maintain Critical Infrastructure: Take direct responsibility for the maintenance and support of critical infrastructure.
  • Communicate and Resolve: Handle communication, triage, and resolution of network issues effectively.

  • Provide timely and quality support, investigation, response, feedback, escalation, assistance, and resolution to incidents logged by the Thiess Helpdesk to Thiess & Business Unit Employees
  • Proactively review the services being provided to ensure they are fit for purpose, cost effective and performing adequately
  • Develop & maintain relationships with business representatives and key stakeholders
  • Work with the relevant ICT team members to develop and maintain;
  • ICT Architecture Standards
  • ICT Infrastructure Standards
  • Identify, develop and maintain other ICT Standards as required.
  • Ensure all systems and network services are available when required by the business and are performing as expected
  • Provide feedback to clients on the status of faults and services requested
  • Maintain security systems to ensure that data security is maximized
  • Monitor the systems to identify potential issues and forecast future requirements
  • Supervise the installation and maintenance of relevant hardware and software
  • Promote a collaborative environment within and across D&T teams
  • Produce and maintain process documentation
  • Produce and maintain network policy documentation
  • Produce recommendation documents
  • Assist procurement needs by obtaining prices and sourcing ICT supplies as directed
  • Communicate / share idea / knowledge
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and identify appropriate applications and new initiatives as required
  • Continually seek ways to improve ICT delivery and services
  • Drive a culture of continual improvement in the level and the efficiency of delivery of ICT services
  • Monitor developments in ICT technology and make recommendations to management on the adoption of appropriate new technologies
  • Report at weekly team meetings on project activities and support tasks
  • Provide technical advice and support to ICT Support staff when required
  • Provide support & advise to junior members of the team
  • Adopt change management processes and best practices in the implementation of changes to major IT&T systems
  • Ensure that business requirements are considered and catered in all planning activities
  • Comprehensive understanding of IP and associated protocols (eg TCP, UDP, RTP, DMVPN etc.)
  • Comprehensive understanding of VPN technologies (in both MPLS and Internet contexts)
  • Comprehensive understanding of hierarchical network design methodologies and technologies
  • Firm understanding of the OSI model.
  • Firm knowledge of industry cabling standards and methods
  • Working knowledge of Voice over IP
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Network Design fundamentals
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard routing protocols; specifically, OSPF and BGP
  • Working knowledge of Internet registrars
  • Expert level knowledge of all wireless standards including spectrum analyzers, surveying tools, Wi-Fi security, RF
  • Expert level knowledge working with and implementing wireless mesh networks (in-pit or highly mobile mesh experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Security concepts 802.1x and Cisco ISE in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting wireless and wireless mesh networks.
  • Working knowledge of next generation firewall technologies specifically Palo Alto.

About You

  • 4-5 years demonstrated experience in the operation and design of enterprise level converged networks.
  • 4-5 years network experience in working with cloud-based applications.
  • To work in 24x7 (rotational or fixed) shifts depending on business needs.
  • Provide 24x7 timely and quality L2/L3 network support to Thiess global sites.
  • Responsible for working closely with Thiess SD team for any ICT issues.
  • Four (4) years’ experience working with Cisco and Juniper technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, and advanced Wireless.
  • Experience working within environments that encompass enterprise level network technologies such as disaster recovery and high availability networks, spanning tree, VoIP, Wireless, content switching and Cloud design.
  • Experience of working within a complex ICT server environment at a network level
  • Experience with working in an environment that is tracked via an incident management tool.
  • Responsible for building competence within the team.
  • Proper documentation of all the processes and timely updation.
