About the role
We have an opportunity for 6 x Network Engineers to be part of our Network and Security Platform Services, Technology and Communication Services Command. The role implements and maintains security controls that protect NSW Police’s systems and data, ensuring secure design, risk mitigation, and compliance. By embedding security into technology platforms, it helps safeguard sensitive information and supports the organisation’s mission to uphold public safety and trust.
The Network and Security Platform Services Directorate is responsible for the connectivity and security that underpins policing across NSW Police Force (NSWPF). The team manages and maintains enterprise network and security services supporting over 550 NSWPF remote sites, as well as key data centres and core technology platforms. The Directorate enables secure and reliable connection of users and devices to NSWPF systems, ensures the delivery of data across the statewide network, and maintains strong control of network boundaries, security and data flows. This includes responsibility for NSWPF telecommunication services and the interoperability and connectivity between internal applications, external services and connected devices.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and engineering services within your assigned domain
- Assist with the operation, maintenance and optimisation of enterprise network and voice platforms
- Support incident, problem and change activities in line with operational standards
- Contribute to service improvement, documentation and technical standards
- Work collaboratively with senior engineers, service delivery teams, projects, other government agencies and vendors
- Build technical capability and progress towards senior specialist roles
Roles are aligned across four specialist streams, with responsibilities as outlined below. Positions report directly to their relevant Platform Lead and may also support capacity driven activities across the Network Platform.
- Service Maintenance (Monitoring, Observability & Optimisation)
- Service Performance (Operations, Stability & Lifecycle Management)
- Voice and Telephony (Unified Communications & Telephony Platforms)
What is required
- Proven experience working with enterprise network or voice technologies
- Exposure to large, complex operational environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while managing competing priorities
- A desire to learn, grow and develop specialist depth
- Minimum CCNP level certification in a relevant discipline. Examples include (but are not limited to): CCNP Enterprise (LAN/WAN), CCNP Collaboration (Voice)
- Equivalent vendor certifications or demonstrable equivalent experience may be considered where appropriate.
