Make a meaningful difference in the lives of older people by providing spiritual and emotional support in our Residential Aged Care Homes – The Terraces in Paddington this role is part time 3 or 2 days a week choose what works for you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Anglicare is seeking a compassionate and relational Pastoral Carer to support residents through pastoral conversations, prayer, Bible reading and spiritual activities. You’ll work closely with Chaplains, Residential Managers, and Lifestyle teams to contribute to holistic resident care.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Provide pastoral support with empathy, dignity, and respect.
Assist, observe and help plan spiritual and responsive activities such as prayer and Bible reading.
Support communication and facilitation of Chaplaincy and Lifestyle activities.
Contribute to documentation including Key to Me and Life Story.
Promote a culturally respectful environment, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Support new residents as they transition into residential aged care
Support the Chaplain in the provision of Chapel and other Christian activities
Provide pastoral End of Life care for residents
Complete and maintain appropriate documentation in Clinical Manager
Collaborate with Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide person centred care
Provide pastoral care to staff and family members affected by grief and loss.
Provide one-to-one pastoral visitation to all residents of the home
ABOUT YOU
Relevant training/qualifications in Pastoral Care highly regarded
Personal and active Christian faith is essential
An active listener who builds trust and rapport and demonstrates a high level of empathy and compassion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Can maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and reliability
Previous experience in ministry/pastoral care/aged care preferred
Please note: A verbal reference from a Church Minister or Pastor is required.
Experience in ministry or pastoral care.
Ability to build rapport and connect warmly with residents.
Able to communicate clearly and complete spiritual/emotional documentation.
Commitment to integrity, confidentiality and ethical practice.
