Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Auckland City Hospital (Te Toka Tumai Auckland) is one of the largest public Hospital in New Zealand and one of the best trauma centres in the country and Pacific Islands. We have a fantastic team of clinicians with expertise in resuscitation, ultrasound, simulation, toxicology and retrieval medicine.
The Adult Emergency Department is :
Accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine
Affiliated with the University of Auckland, Schools of Medicine and Health Science
Actively involved in clinical and university-based teaching (including the ACME course, ACLS, Ultrasound, ED thoracotomy and difficult airway courses)
Responsible (in conjunction with the Auckland Rescue Helicopter trust) for running the Helicopter
Emergency Medical service (HEMS) which has been successful in providing fully integrated care for trauma patients
Currently involved in a number of key national and international research projects
Aligned with the Te Toka Tumai values
We also have a robust regular in-situ interdisciplinary weekly simulation programme with multiple simulation-based training sessions, run by dedicated, passionate doctors and nurses as part of the AuSIM group (Auckland Hospital Level 2 Simulation Programme).
We are the ONLY hospital in New Zealand who are accredited by ACEM for a Simulation Special Skills Fellow!
These positions are available for a fixed period of 12 months.
