Appointment Pool
Cannington Community College (CC) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Cannington Community College is a dynamic work and learning environment delivering responsive and inclusive education to a diverse community. The College is an urban Kindergarten to Year 10 school approximately 8 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College is unique!
Cannington CC is growing and undergoing significant renewal over the next few years, with the development of new pedagogies and new ways of working together. We are collaboratively developing a vision for the future of Cannington, and together with the City of Canning, Cannington Community Education Support Centre and Sevenoaks Senior College, we are engaging with the redevelopment of the inner-city area. Good things are happening.
So, naturally, Cannington CC is an exciting place to learn and work, and we invest in our people. We do this through an instructional coaching and capacity-building approach, with observation and feedback integral to our school improvement agenda. We have dedicated coaches who would love to help you grow.
We are looking for team-oriented, highly collaborative Early Childhood Education staff members who can work in a group. Cannington Community College has a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. Our staff have a shared understanding of contemporary quality teaching and whole school pedagogy. Our pedagogical framework focuses on explicit teaching, evidence-based practice, and play-based learning. We will progress our literacy through engagement with the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum.
We have high expectations of our students and ourselves at the College, and suitable applicants will ideally have equally high standards of professionalism. They will embrace opportunities for collaboration within and beyond the College community. If you want to lead, we want to help build you!
Targeted support is available for staff across all career stages, from graduate mentoring, classroom observations, instructional coaching and aspirant leadership development programs. Staff Professional Learning is encouraged and planned in conjunction with strengths and development as educators. Our team are supported both personally and professionally, with a keen focus on work-life balance.
Cannington Community College has a data-literate culture where we use effective systems to monitor and interpret data to inform future planning. Your teaching should prioritise the reflective use of data and embed differentiation to support all students, utilising ongoing formative assessment to provide feedback, measure progress, and differentiate instruction. The College is a culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse community. We are seeking culturally responsive staff who can cater to students with additional needs and have understanding and experience in Students at Educational Risk (SAER) and English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD).
Developing the whole student is a priority for our staff. We balance curriculum delivery with social and emotional learning and physical health and wellbeing. We utilise Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to set high expectations for our learning environment, ensuring all students are safe and accountable. We seek lifelong learners, reflective practitioners and those with a growth mindset to work within our professional learning community.
The desired applicants will ideally be open-minded, willing to embrace change and move with the times, have strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, and be solutions focused. We are looking for staff who will build positive relationships with families by communicating effectively and engaging parents as partners in their child’s educational journey.
