About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a skilled and reliable Truck Driver to join their professional transport team. This role requires a dedicated professional with strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, capable of managing the transportation of high-quality agricultural and horticultural products. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in vehicle operation, load management, and delivery coordination, ensuring the safe and timely movement of goods while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and customer service.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation & Safety Management
- Execute precise manoeuvring and positioning of vehicles for efficient loading and unloading operations at various facilities including farms, processing plants, and distribution centres
- Conduct comprehensive pre-departure vehicle inspections and regular quality checks, identifying and reporting any maintenance requirements or safety concerns to ensure roadworthiness
- Operate vehicles in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies, maintaining impeccable driving standards and professional conduct at all times
- Monitor vehicle performance throughout shifts, completing necessary documentation and reporting any operational issues promptly to the maintenance team
Load Management & Security
Expertly operate specialized lifting and tipping equipment for loading and unloading vehicles, following established procedures to maintain product quality and integrityCalculate and verify load weights to ensure compliance with vehicle limitations and regulatory requirements, optimizing load distribution for safe transportationImplement secure stowage methods and appropriate covering systems to prevent product loss, damage, or contamination during transit, particularly for sensitive agricultural productsConduct thorough load condition assessments before departure and upon arrival, documenting any discrepancies and maintaining product quality throughout the delivery chainDocumentation & Compliance
Verify and process all loading documentation, ensuring accuracy of consignment details, delivery instructions, and special handling requirementsObtain and complete delivery certifications, maintaining clear and precise records of all transactions and customer acknowledgmentsCoordinate with dispatch and warehouse teams to ensure efficient scheduling and routing, communicating any delays or issues that may impact delivery timelinesMaintain current knowledge of transport regulations, company policies, and industry best practices to ensure full compliance in all operational activitiesCustomer Service & Team Coordination
Represent the company professionally during customer interactions, addressing inquiries and resolving delivery-related issues promptly and effectivelyCollaborate with loading crews, warehouse staff, and management to optimize operational efficiency and maintain smooth workflow processesProvide feedback and suggestions for process improvements, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of transport operations and customer service standardsSupport team members during peak periods and assist with training of new staff when required, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environmentEssential Qualifications & Experience
Current Heavy Vehicle Driver's Licence (HR class minimum) with excellent driving recordAQF Certificate II in Transport & Logistics or equivalent qualification, combined with minimum 1-year full-time experience in a similar driving roleDemonstrated experience in load restraint, vehicle inspection procedures, and delivery documentationEssential Skills & Attributes
