ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a Traffic / Transport Engineer to step into a pivotal role on a 9‑month fixed‑term contract with possibility for extension. Working within a collaborative team of engineers and planners, you’ll provide expert advice on Development Applications, lead investigations into traffic‑related concerns, and play an integral role in shaping safe, efficient, and sustainable transport networks across the municipality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigate traffic and transport issues including road safety concerns, congestion points, and community‑raised requests, providing practical and sustainable solutions.
- Prepare technical reports and cost estimates to support project planning, capital works programs, and decision‑making by internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with internal departments and external agencies such as RMS, TfNSW, and residents to coordinate responses to traffic, transport, and parking matters.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of transport initiatives including Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) schemes, road safety audits, and active transport strategies.
- Represent Council at Traffic Committee meetings , presenting technical advice, supporting policy development, and engaging with NSW Police and other key stakeholders.
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
- Strong experience in traffic and transport within Local Government or consultancy.
- Solid understanding of NSW Road Rules, Australian Standards, and Austroads guidelines.
- Skilled in technical report writing and stakeholder communication.
- Experience with traffic software (e.g. SIDRA, AutoCAD) is highly desirable.
