• Building Surveyors – Permanent full‑time positions (part‑time considered)
• Building Assessment Officers – Fixed term part‑time roles for student Building Surveyors

About The Role

Join our dynamic Building Services team and help shape safe, compliant, and sustainable development across Cockburn.

As a Building Surveyor, you’ll assess building applications, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. You’ll provide expert advice, liaise with builders and developers, and contribute to creating healthy, safe built environments.

As a Building Assessment Officer, you’ll receive on‑the‑job training while supporting our Building Surveyors with application processing, inspections, and customer service. This is an ideal opportunity for a student working towards a Building Surveyor qualification to gain practical experience in local government.

Both roles offer variety, problem‑solving, and the chance to make a real impact in a growing city.

About You

We’re seeking motivated building professionals—with a focus on compliance, customer service, and continuous learning—to help deliver safe, sustainable development and exceptional service to our community.

For The Building Surveyor Role, You’ll Have

• An Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying or equivalent qualification
• Sound knowledge of the Building Act, NCC, and relevant codes
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

For The Building Assessment Officer Role, You’ll Have

• Current enrolment in a recognised Building Surveying qualification or related
• Strong customer service and organisational skills
• A commitment to learning and professional development

Salary

• Building Surveyor: Level 5–7 ($93,945 – $118,583) based on qualifications and experience
• Building Assessment Officer: Level 3–4 ($74,000 – $84,000 approx.) based on qualifications and experience

(As per the City of Cockburn Industrial Agreement 2025)
