About the role
Based in Whyalla, as part of the Procurement & Sourcing Team reporting into the Senior Buyer – Site Services, this role is seen as a real governance role and alongside mentoring and training the team, this position generates value for the Whyalla businesses from the engagement of contractors and suppliers. You will manage the procurement process end to end for the Whyalla businesses in alignment with the category, portfolio, capital and business plans.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Manage sourcing events up to $1m
- Raise purchase orders to approved requisitions within procurement sourcing guidelines
- Understand the Scope of Work required for successful execution of the operation / project including interfaces with related operations / projects
- Ensure tender timelines deliver outcomes in accordance with overall portfolio of work
- Provide market engagement, including in depth knowledge of suppliers of services
- Work in a business partnering relationship with several key stakeholders across the business to achieve the best outcomes for GFG Alliance
You are approachable and friendly and ideally have proven experience in a similar on-site role within a mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry sector. You have a strong sense of work ethic, are a natural go getter and are used to working in a dynamic environment prioritizing competing demands.
To be successful in this role, you will have :
Certificate IV in Purchasing or similar or equivalent experienceExperience in sourcing for, or management of, a complex organizational (manufacturing or industrial) environmentPurchasing, administration or trade experience is highly regardedExperience in SAP and accounts payable is a plusExperience in negotiating large, complex contracts across a diverse organizationStrong written and verbal communication skillsExceptional attention to detailHigh level of analytical skills with proven ability to model, analyze and summarize dataKey Benefits
