Summary
Job title : Events Manager (maternity cover)
Job type : Full time or 0.8 FTE, 12-month fixed term contract
This role is available at our offices based in SYDNEY, BRISBANE or CANBERRA (with hybrid working).
We are happy to consider this role on a 0.8 or 1.0 FTE basis.
About the role
Reporting to the CEO, you will manage flagship events such as our Annual Meeting – which includes a scientific program, Gala Dinner, mentorship workshop and President's Breakfast – as well as our highly regarded Life as a Clinician Scientist series.
You'll also support state branch activities and help develop new ideas and initiatives.
This role requires exceptional organisational skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working closely with senior academics, health professionals, and external stakeholders.
This is a maternity cover position for 12 months.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver the Academy's Annual Meeting and associated events.
Plan and deliver the Life as a Clinician Scientist events series and supporting activities.
Support other Academy events, including state branch gatherings.
Develop event programs, budgets, speaker briefings and promotions / marketing strategies.
Liaise with venues, suppliers, speakers and sponsors to ensure seamless delivery.
Contribute to evaluation, new ideas and growth opportunities for Academy events.

About you
Proven track record in managing successful events, ideally within a scientific, health, research or higher education setting.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
Self-motivated and the ability to contribute positively to the work of a small team.
