Overview

Join to apply for the Help build a house in Newcastle NSW role at Bendigo Advertiser .

Location : Waratah, a suburb of Newcastle, NSW. This is a hands-on, longer-term build project rather than a traditional short-term job.

Responsibilities

  • Carpentry, painting, demolition, site cleaning, moving scaffold, installing fixtures, and other building / construction tasks.
  • Work alongside the hosts and become part of the daily project life, not only a set of tasks.

Work Options

  • Option 1 – Homestay : Accommodation and meals provided for 20 hours / week plus a stipend after that. Minimum 24 hours per week, maximum 6 days / week. You stay with the family and contribute to the project as part of daily life.
  • Option 2 – Part-time / Regular Job : You find your own accommodation and meals; paid in the normal job manner. Expected 2–5 days per week, with pay between $22–$25 / hour depending on experience. Hours can be arranged flexibly (typically 5 x 8-hour days as a suggestion).

    • Requirements / Qualifications

  • Ability to solve problems and work independently for portions of the time
  • Open to learning and collaborating with a host family or project team

    • Location details : near public transport access; close to train station and local amenities. Appropriate for Working Holiday Visa holders or locals seeking steady work.
