Overview

MCI is seeking a motivated and experienced salesperson to join our team in selling sponsorship opportunities and exhibition space on behalf of our association and government event clients in Sydney.

We deliver events across Australia and the Asia-Pacific as a hub of services for our region, and as part of a global workforce that spans 30+ countries and 60+ offices. The right candidate will have autonomy to thrive and build their own portfolio of events and clients with new and recurring clients in a range of business sectors. MCI is a destination employer in Australia for association events management.

The Role

To sell sponsorship and exhibition packages on behalf of our association clients’ projects. This covers national, regional and international conferences and exhibitions.

  • Meet sponsorship and exhibition sales KPI’s through calls, meetings and presentations to prospects. Includes prospecting, sales negotiation and closing
  • Work autonomously and proactively across multiple projects to ensure sales targets and deadlines are met
  • Regular client facing reporting
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective sponsors and exhibitors across your event portfolio
  • Develop and maintain rapport with our association clients
  • Work with the Sponsorship Director and respective project management teams to develop and execute event sponsorship campaign strategy
  • Collaborate with internal marketing, operations, and other departments / staff to support client management and event delivery as needed

The Person

Sales Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience working for an association, in association management, sponsorship sales, or a similar discipline with a proven track record of achievements
  • Alternatively, 3+ years' with a professional conference organiser, preferably in sponsorship sales
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills (F2F, phone and email sales ability are must)
  • Self-motivated and able to demonstrate a high level of individual initiative, attention to detail and prioritise and manage multiple tasks
  • Sponsorship Sales Strategy Development and Reporting

  • High EQ (ability to conceptualise the sponsor and delegate experiences when building strategies)
  • Analytical thinking
  • Account Management Skills

  • Understand the client / provider dynamic between professional conference organisers and our association client
  • Confidence to communicate with C-Suite executives, Board Members and leading Professors / Doctors in their field who are in leadership roles with our client organisations
  • Ability to Travel for Domestic and International Business

  • Act professionally in representing MCI and our clients at both our hosted events and interim events hosted nationally / internationally
  • Full Australian driving licence
  • Australian residency or extended work visa with valid passport
