Research Operations as a function within the department is accountable for the programmatic approaches to the operations of user research. The Research Support Officer supports the Research Operations Lead in managing research participant recruitment strategies, policies, and procedures. This can include end-to-end participant experience, vendor management and stakeholder engagement.

  • The Job
  • Duties may include some or all the following :

  • Support the development and implementation of participant recruitment, participant management policies (participant experience) and standard practices.
  • Assess and manage risks around the use of information, particularly with respect to personally identifiable information.
  • Provide reports on the consolidated status of information controls to inform effective decision making.
  • Recommend remediation actions as required.
  • Undertake user research about our users (researchers, people who do research, and people who use research) collecting data on their needs, delivering analysis and problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with and facilitate stakeholder engagement including workshops and guild meetings.
  • Work with the Research Operations Lead to establish stakeholder engagement practices.
  • Support the Research Operations Lead to carry out the communication strategy relevant to the participant recruitment aspect of Research Operations.
  • Support researchers to register their research so that our research assets across the research lifecycle can be more clearly seen.
  • Support the development, maintenance and operationalisation of stakeholder engagement strategies and plans.
  • Provide support on the use of existing method and tools.
  • Undertake research assistance - sourcing and reviewing of credible and reliable resources.
  • Report on work carried out and may contribute sections of material of publication quality.
  • Contribute to business planning and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of workplace and business practices.
  • Exercise delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
  • Prioritise competing tasks and work collaboratively to see tasks through to completion.

  • What we are looking for
  • Knowledge and experience
  • The successful applicant will have :

  • previous experience in user research
  • knowledge of the National Health and Medical Research Council Guidelines and legislation
  • pertinent to storage of personal information
  • experience in running a participant recruitment database
  • experience in stakeholder engagement and communication
  • experience in undertaking user research, particularly in product development.
