About The Opportunity

We have an exciting term contract, full-time opportunity for a Trainee Environmental Health Officer to join our team and gain industry experience for up to 12 months. Working within our Environment section, you will be responsible for ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.

The Successful Applicants Will

  • Provide local places and spaces that are clean and healthy and turn awareness and commitment into action to halt and reverse the effects, pressures and threats on the built and natural environment by working in collaboration with our community and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and participate in the implementation of projects, strategies, policies, guidelines and procedures that align with this commitment, specifically environmental health.

Essential

Qualifications and experience

  • Enrolled in a relevant tertiary qualification in an environmental health field for the duration of the traineeship
  • Current class C driver's licence
  • Desirable

  • Sound knowledge of, and experience in, current environmental health issues
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations, write correspondence, complex reports, grant applications and award submissions
  • Computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

    The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Trainee rates apply
  • 35-hour working week
