Quantum Brilliance is the world leader in room temperature, miniaturised and ruggedised quantum technologies that can be deployed anywhere, and close to where you need it most. Central to our core offering is the integrated diamond quantum chip, which leverages the unique properties of NV centres in diamonds to be used for both quantum sensing and quantum computing applications, from data centres through to on‑premises and edge applications such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, hospitals and aerospace.

Founded in 2019 by leading experts in diamond quantum science from the Australian National University, we are a full‑stack quantum technology company. Headquartered in Sydney we have labs located in Australia (Canberra & Melbourne) and Germany (Stuttgart & Freiburg) and recently opened an office in Tokyo, Japan. We partner with universities, cutting‑edge materials and semiconductor companies, and are exploring real‑world applications with HPCs, research institutes and industrial companies in automotive, telecommunications, aerospace and healthcare. We are backed by large sovereign wealth funds from Australia as well as global deep‑tech VCs supporting us through this rapidly emerging market.

Role & Mission

As the People & Culture Partner (Australia / Japan) you will be responsible for delivering day‑to‑day HR partnership and guidance across the workforce, ensuring compliance with local legislation and alignment to global People & Culture frameworks. This role supports leaders and employees across the full employee lifecycle – including employee relations, performance support, wellbeing and career development.

Alongside business‑as‑usual HR delivery you will contribute to and lead special projects within the People & Culture function, such as policy design, DEI programs, HRIS optimisation, onboarding and culture initiatives, while also providing subject‑matter expertise for Australian compliance and Fair Work requirements. Operating as the key point of contact for the region, the Partner balances operational HR delivery with proactive engagement and capability‑building, ensuring a consistent employee experience across a globally dispersed workforce. You can operate in a hybrid capacity and be aligned to either of our Sydney or Canberra locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides trusted HR guidance to managers and employees, building capability at the leadership level.
  • Strengthens engagement, wellbeing, and retention across the APAC region.
  • Maintains compliance with Australian labour law and fair work legislation.
  • Aligns regional practices with global People & Culture frameworks while reflecting local cultural and legislative context.
  • Drives global People & Culture evolution through special projects, contributing to scalable and consistent people practices.
  • Collaborates with our European People & Culture team on globally focused people related programmes.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to drive outcomes related to immigration / visa and relocation requirements.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to understand gaps and challenges in current processes and programs and ultimately drive future improvements.

Desired Experience

  • University degree in a related field.
  • Broad generalist experience within People Operations / Human Resources function.
  • Experience working in a high / deep‑tech environment alongside highly technical engineers and scientists is desirable.
  • Experience in a startup environment would be a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work autonomously and efficiently.
  • Driven and target‑oriented with analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, high in emotional intelligence.
  • Highly organised and proactive with high attention to detail.
  • Can‑do attitude and learning agility – open‑minded with a great dose of curiosity.
  • Proficiency in using HRIS systems and other related platforms.
  • Experience in the Japanese market would be a plus but is not mandatory.
