Data Engineer

Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to lead the project stream of a data warehouse platform. This role involves updating data development documentation, providing technical guidance to developers, and reviewing / approving data designs and models.

Duties

• Lead the technical implementation of new data from analysis to delivery, including designing data dictionaries and defining best practices.
• Prioritise work items and manage a work queue effectively.
• Develop and maintain SQL analytical and ETL code, ensuring optimal performance through tuning and optimisation.
• Collaborate with data consumers, database developers, testers, and IT support teams.

Skills and Experience Required

• Proficiency in AWS services such as AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, EMR, and Step Functions, as well as Cloud Formation or Terraform.
• Strong experience in data pipeline design and development using ETL / ELT frameworks.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred), Java, or Scala.
• Strong SQL skills for data manipulation and analysis.
• Hands-on experience in cloud-based data architecture and deployments, including containerised environments (Docker, ECS, EKS).
• Understanding of DevOps processes and the ability to use DevOps tools effectively.
