About The Role

Provide strategic leadership and drive operational execution of SA’s enterprise risk function, ensuring the proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks across all business and compliance areas.

This role partners with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and senior leaders to embed a strong risk culture, maintain robust frameworks and reporting, and align with regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and drive the design, implementation and ongoing enhancements of SA’s enterprise-wide risk management framework, policies, and procedures
  • Define, set, and oversee risk appetite and tolerance levels, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and Board expectations
  • Provide strategic counsel to the CEO, ELT and senior leaders on embedding risk management methodologies into decision‑making
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in risk management by leading enterprise-wide self‑assessments, independent reviews, and stakeholder engagement initiatives
  • Conduct enterprise‑level risk assessments
  • Lead and coordinate enterprise stress testing, scenario planning, and emerging risk analysis to anticipate vulnerabilities
  • Lead the design and support the execution of crisis management plans, ensuring effective response and recovery strategies for major disruption events impacting stakeholders
  • Conduct and coordinate regular testing, training and simulation exercises to enhance organisational preparedness for business continuity and crisis scenarios
  • Lead and drive compliance monitoring, ensuring organisational adherence to laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Analyse and translate complex risk data into business‑friendly reporting and dashboards
  • Maintain up‑to‑date risk registers and ensure data integrity across risk systems

About You

  • Proven experience as a Head of Risk, Chief Risk Officer, or equivalent senior leadership role
  • 10+ years of relevant risk management experience including governance, risk and compliance roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, accounting or economics, business administration or management, or legal studies
  • Experienced risk leader with a demonstrated ability in risk reporting and partnering with executive leadership and boards
  • In‑depth knowledge of and operational experience in frameworks, standards, risk systems and risk management methodologies
  • Proven ability to design and embed enterprise‑wide risk management frameworks and to support Board and executive‑level decision‑making
