Job description

We have an immediate requirement for a casual part-time therapist who can leverage their experience as a registered allied health professional such as a social worker, counsellor, speech pathologist or occupational therapist in providing high level supports and services to neurodivergent children and their families. We are looking for a qualified professional who can work autonomously in a variety of settings, and has the experience, resilience and skill. Experience working with children aged 3 years to 18 years is essential.

This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference by providing holistic, client-centric support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Delivering support in neuroaffirming therapy hub to children and their families
  • Working on-site in educational and in-community settings, providing individual and small group support
  • Working collaboratively to deliver co-designed therapeutic programs
  • Collaborating with families to integrate skill and capacity building at home
  • Support the administration, reporting and logistics of appointments
  • Developing resources and tools tailored to individual client goals
  • Goal setting, reporting to interested parties and NDIS or school report writing

About you

Applicants for this opportunity must, at a minimum, have :

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in social work, counselling, occupational therapy, speech pathology, or a related field.
  • Registration with appropriate professional body.
  • Proven success and interest in working with neurodiverse cohorts, including children with ASD / ADHD.
  • Proven experience in educational, clinical or other relevant settings.
  • Proven experience working with children aged 3 years to 18 years.
  • An understanding of and interest in the context / s in which we operate (allied health, psychology, education) and the NDIS.
  • Commitment to disability inclusion and neurodiverse affirming therapeutic approach.
  • Ability to work autonomously, including providing 1 : 1 client services in educational, clinical and / or home settings.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations within Melbourne Metropolitan Area.
  • Understanding of and commitment to child safety, including Child Safe standards.
